Isa 41:10 (KJV) 10) Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
“What will take place next?” “Will the worst case scenario come to pass?” “How can I best handle this difficult situation?” “To whom can I look to for help?” The list of questions that enter our minds during times of uncertainty and distress are endless. Basically, these questions are given birth from two different emotions…”fear” and “dismay”.
Fear and confusion (or dismay) are two of the most crippling of human emotions. Many of us, at one time or another, have felt the paralysis that comes from fearing what the future may hold linked with a lack of understanding how to best deal with it when the event takes place. It is these two issues that are being addressed in our verse for this morning.
Our Lord gives us reasons why we should not fear, nor be confused, as we face the many issues that our lives may hold. Notice first, The Lord teaches us two principles to always keep in mind when we are faced with fearful and confusing issues in life…
1. “Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee.“ What should we remember when fear creeps into our lives? Our Lord is with us.
We are not alone in this situation. No one else may understand, or care about, what we are going through but our Lord does and He is with us.
2. “be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God:” What should we lay hold onto when we find ourselves confused, not knowing what to do? Our Lord is our God.
By this He is reminding us of His attributes, three of which are:
He is All-powerful (Omnipotent) – nothing is too hard for Him to handle, He is in control of all things.
He is All-knowing (Omniscient) – He knows what will take place, He knows what is for our good, and He knows how to handle any situation.
He is everywhere present (Omnipresent)– He is with us, and dwells in us in the person of the Spirit. He is everywhere. He is eternal (existing in the past, in the present and in the future). We will never be alone, no matter where we go or when in history we live. He is with us.
Knowing that He is with us and He is God gives us absolute confidence in the three promises He gives to us….
“I will strengthen thee;”- although our problems are too great for us to handle on our own. With His strength we are overcomers… Rom 8:35-37, 2 Cor 12:9
“yea, I will help thee;”– He will always share the burdens we bear. He will be there to lead us, stand with us and share our burdens with us… 1 Pet 5:7
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.– He will hold us up and sustain us. He will be our support and our foundation. He will keep us secure in Him. Psa 37:17, 24
May the Lord bless us as we “Think On These Things”.

Very encouraging Pastor…thank you.
Hi Cathy,
The Word certainly does give us encouragement and strength… so thankful the Lord is using His Word to be a blessing to you!
There is a young woman who I blog with who is faced with a lot of things right now and is confused and needing prayer to know that God is with her …..I told her that I would be praying along with her and would be so grateful if you would pray as well for her many needs…financial, physical and emotional ..thank you Rob in advance…Diane
Hi Diane,
Absolutely, Will be in prayer for your friend. May the Lord bless your friend and you also.
Christianity is not, as the communists used to say, ‘pie in the sky when you die’.
Christ died to save us but He lives to keep us. Living with Christ on a moment by moment basis as He supplies all our needs is a here and now living in victory.
If we fear, or doubt, or are confused we no need to be, for His promises are certain. He cannot break His word. He WILL help when we call to Him. What assurance! What love! What provision!
What an amazing God!
Angela,
AMEN! what a blessing it is to realize we have a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother, we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and cares for us beyond measure! Lord bless you.
This brings such a strength and power with it , Pastor Rob! Thank you for building us up with the truth of His promises! God bless you!
Debbie,
The Lord’s promises are so good to us! Thank you for your kind words.
