(Mat 5:9) Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Those who are happy and blessed of the Lord are those who actively work to bring peace into the lives of others. There are many different types of peace; there is peace between nations, peace between families, and even peace between individuals.  The peace being spoken of in this beatitude is peace between sinful man and a holy God.

When we are adopted into God’s family (at our salvation) we begin to experience a burden to share the life changing gospel message with our loved ones and acquaintances. When we share the gospel with others and then they turn from their sin to Christ, they are brought into peace with Him.  As we work for peace between God and man, this is an indication that we are a part of God’s family, and as such, are the joint-heirs of a glorious eternity with Christ.

This is one mark of a person who has been blessed by God and is living a happy life in Him.  Does today’s verse describe your life?  Do you have lasting peace and happiness in Christ?  If not, trust in Christ and follow Him.  He makes us a promise “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

May the Lord bless each one of us as we “Think On These Things”.

I have never thought of this verse in that way before Rob! Thanks. “He who wins souls is wise!”

    • Rob Barkman says:

The Lord is so good to us… we can read the same verses over and over in our studies and He will graciously show us a new truth each time we read them. If nothing else, it shows us the richness and fulness of His Word. None of us can ever come to a complete understanding of His truths (this side of eternity!) Lord bless you.

  2. granbee says:

If we do not work for peace between God and man, it is utterly fruitless to work for peace between different segments of humanity, isn’t it. Bless you, Paster Rob for this most instructional post!

  3. As a counsellor I have experienced the joy that comes from seeing two people ‘make peace’ but the joy that comes from seeing someone come to peace with God is unspeakable joy. What a great privilege is ours to be used by God in this way!

    • Rob Barkman says:

Absolutely true… knowing that the Lord used us to bring someone to Himself is such a blessing. It amazes me how He chose to use us as sinful humans to take His message to the world, what a blessing and responsibility. Lord bless you.

  4. Debbie says:

I really loved this look at the peacemaker! 🙂 God bless you as you keep us thinking of Him!
