SIH TOTT ICONRevelation 3:8 KJV

(8)  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Here, we are told that the Lord opens doors of opportunity for His people to serve Him.  He is the one that opens them and it is ONLY He that closes them.

But I would like us to notice why He opens these doors for His people… “for (because) thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”

To put this very simply…. because they remained faithful to the Lord in the opportunities they were given, new opportunities for ministry then opened up for them.  Although they had very little strength (influence) in their community (because they lacked wealth, authority and fame) they still obtained, and applied, the truths of His Word and publically professed Christ to others.  Based upon their faithfulness, the Lord then opened these new doors of service for them.

Folks, do we desire for the Lord to use us in great ways?  It is important we recognize two things:

First, EVERY ministry that the Lord opens to us is a very important needed ministry.  Anyone serving the Lord is serving Him in a great way.  There is a very great need for faithfulness in the area to which you have already been called.

Secondly, when we are faithful in the ministry we have been given, the Lord will open more opportunities of service for us.  So, if we desire to be used by the Lord in more areas of ministry then, be faithful in our current ministries and the Lord, by His grace, will open more opportunities to us…

Matthew 25:23 – “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

May we all seek to increase our service to the Lord by being faithful in our ministries NOW!

May the Lord bless us as we seek to serve Him, the One that is so clearly revealed to us in the book of   the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
