And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

During the wrath that will fall during Christ’s second coming, we see that lost mankind will desire to die.  Why is this?  It is because they will be feeling the wrath of God upon them and will be thinking that death would be far easier to bear than to continue to face God’s great wrath.

Sad to say, they are wrong.  When they die physically, they will be facing God’s wrath in the Lake of Fire, the worse possible wrath that can be received (Mark 9:43-44).  So in a sense, God’s intervention in their lives, stopping them from dying is an act of grace and mercy in and of itself (Matthew 5:45).

For those who have never entered into a personal relationship with Him, what a blessing it is to know that He is a kind, loving, merciful God.  He is the One that is mercifully withholding hell from the lost who are currently living upon this earth.  He is the One that will enter into a relationship with anyone who will turn from their sins and trust in Him as Lord and Savior.

However, there is also another point that we should draw our attention to in this text.  God, and God alone, is the One that controls life and death.  He is the One that “holds the keys of (control over) hell and of death” (Rev 1:18).  King David proclaimed the same truth about our Lord when he said….
Psa 68:20 KJV – “He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.”  (see also 1 Sam 2:6)

Our Lord’s control over the issues of death is one of the many characteristics that set Him apart from all the other false gods of this world…
Deu 32:39 KJV – “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”

Folks, let us praise and honor our great Lord for being the Lord over life and death.  For God’s people…
He is the One that blesses us with every breath we take.
He is the One that watches our every step and keeps us safe.
He is the One that knows what our future holds and prepares us, now, for what is to come.
He is the One that will grant us continued life until His purpose for us has been completed, and then He will escort us home to be with Him.

What a wonderful blessing to know that our life is in His hands!

May we all think on these things today and find encouragement and comfort for our hearts!

What a thought to think about the fact that sinners would rather try to commit sucide than face God. All of which is vain of course because God’s control extend to when our life ends and where we go after we die (the point you made).
