(6) And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
What a wonderful thought …. time will no longer exist! No more rushing to get to appointments on time. No more watching the clock waiting for the work day to end. No more counting the years since our birth to see if we are “old age” yet. No more being fearful of a good time coming to an end. No more time!
In our text this morning, we are promised that there is coming a day when time will no longer exists. When will this take place? It will take place when eternity begins at the second coming of Christ. It will be at that time that time will cease and the eternal reign of the Lord will begin…
Rev 21:10,11,23-25; 22:5- KJV –
“And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: …
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
Just like the song of old says…
“When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun.”
May we all strength and encouragement today, as we remember that soon… “there should be time no longer” and we shall be in our eternal home with our Lord.
