(17) Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
The setting up of the Lord’s Kingdom, accompanied with the downfall of the kingdoms of this world, will be one of many great displays of the strength and ability of God Almighty.
Folks, in the world around us some of the greatest displays of dominating strength is found in the powers of the world’s governments. The powers of these governments include economic, political and military might that, seemingly, dominate and control many aspects of our lives.
But keep in mind, our Lord’s sovereign control reaches deep into the governments of this world. From our human perspective these governments are ruling and controlling what takes place in this world, but in actually, it is our Lord that is working behind the scenes and using these very governments to bring about His sovereign will…
Pro 21:1 KJV – “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
From our human perspective, His power is only faintly seen in His use of the governments of today. However, at the establishment of His eternal kingdom, which immediately follows His second coming, His sovereign power will be clearly displayed. We will see His greatness on display as He brings these great military, economic and political powers to nothing.
As we begin to live in His glorious, eternal kingdom we will much more clearly recognize His greatness and glory as He perfectly reigns over us.
Folks, may we all keep our eyes on that day, when the spiritual enemies of God will be defeated, our Lord’s glory will shine forth as the sun, and we will be forever in His glorious presence. May we allow these truths to forever encourage and strengthen us as we continue on our journey to our eternal home.
Heb 11:13-16 KJV – “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”
