Revelation 19:13

“And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.”

The blood of Christ… one of the most important doctrinal teachings found in the Word of God.  It is through the shedding of Christ’s blood that we can:

  1. Learn of God’s and Christ’s great love for us
  2. Be declared innocent from our many heinous sins
  3. Be delivered from the eternal wrath of Almighty God
  4. Be brought into communion with a Holy God
  5. Be saved from eternal death and granted eternal life

Romans 5:8-10 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”

No wonder His shed blood holds a core position of importance in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, it is the only hope for a person’s salvation, receipt of other spiritual blessings and eternal security with Him.

Sadly, many today will minimize the importance of the death and shed blood of Christ.  It has been done throughout NT times and will continue to be done until Christ comes again.  Anytime that we minimize what Christ has done for us (whether by word or action) after we have mentally received the truth about its importance, it is a sign of a lost condition and increased responsibility at the final judgment…

Hebrews 10:29 –  “Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?”

May we all properly value the shed blood of Christ, it will revolutionize our service to Him by leading us to appropriately appreciate what He has done for us.

1 Peter 1:18-20 – “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you”
