Revelation 19:19 – “And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.”

Please keep in mind, “the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies” are describing the political aspect of Satan’s kingdom (beast – the world political powers throughout history, kings – the political leaders of the individual nations used by Satan, their armies – the army of each individual nation that opposes Christ and his people).

Although they are, and will be, always recognized as individual nations with independent leaders and armies, they are shown to share the same motivations, empowerments and goals.  This is because they all share one great chief … Satan!

In this section of his vision, John sees the kingdom of Satan “gathered to make war” against Christ and His people.  Folks, not only is this descriptive of the last days when Christ will return with His glorified saints from heaven, but it is also an accurate description of the spiritual warfare that takes place around us.   Please keep in mind, throughout the New Testament Scriptures, we are told that the powers of darkness (political and religious aspects of Satan’s kingdom that are given spiritual empowerment from Satan and the demonic world) are waging a spiritual warfare against the people of God…

Ephesians 6:10-12 – “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.   Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Christ HAS WON this victory against the powers of darkness when He died on the cross…

Colossians 2:14-15 – “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

Christ WILL DISPLAY that victory at His second coming when the powers that are assembled to war against the Lord and His people will be brought down to utter, permanent defeat at His second coming. We can rest assured the same powers we wrestle against now, someday will be brought to utter, eternal, defeat… what a day that will be!   (Revelation 19:11-21)

Because of this great victory that is won on the cross and made manifest at His second coming… we can know with absolute certainty that we are overcomers, through faith in Him.  We are overcomers, not because of us, but because of Him!

1 John 4:4 – “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

1 John 5:4-5 – “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.  Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”
