Heb 11:29  By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

The account of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea is found in Exodus 14:21-31.

The Israelites, as they were being pursued by the Egyptian army, followed the pillar of fire and pillar of cloud to the banks of the Red Sea.   What were they to do?  The following is the conversation that took place between the people of Israel and Moses (Ex 14:11-14):

Children of Israel: Because [there were] no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? [Is] not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For [it had been] better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

Moses: Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.  The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Based on the above conversation, it is obvious that the Israelites no longer trusted the Lord with their safety and future.  Moses, however, continued to stand strong in his faith which led to a miraculous deliverance of Israel from the Egyptians.

Following Moses’ declaration of his faith in his Lord, we find that God delivered the nation of Israel from this predicament.  The Lord opened the Red Sea, caused dry land and walls of water to appear which formed a corridor through which they escaped.  When the Egyptians attempted to cross the Red Sea in this corridor the walls of water collapsed drowning the Egyptian army.

In our text, we see it was through the faith of one man that blessings came upon an entire nation…. Perhaps you are the only one in your family, neighborhood, workplace or church that is trusting in the Lord to meet a specific need. Or maybe, you are the only one that is saved among a group of unbelievers.

In either case, you have been placed in that position and given an added measure of faith from the Lord for a reason. By standing fast in your faith, trusting your Almighty Sovereign Lord, you could be the instrument our Lord uses to be a blessing to those around you.

May the Lord bless each one of us as we “Think On These Things”.

Listening to them complain reminds me of how we do the same thing with the Lord He gives us one thing and we complain and say we want something better or we wish we could of stayed where we was. Not knowing that some prefer to be in bondage instead of free, them being fearfully of not knowing what to expect and God showed them a sign He was with them at every step…

  4. I am counting on standing firm in my faith and believing for all of my family who have not yet accepted the Lord as their Saviour and who aren’t even perhaps thinking of how God can fit into their lives. Specifically my grandchildren…but others as well..Diane

      Diane,

I know it can be very difficult with family members who are not saved. Just keep praying for them and trusting the Lord to intervene in their lives and bring them to Himself. I know you are setting a good example before them so now its in the Lord’s hands. Lord bless you and keep trusting Him.

  5. “One with Christ is a majority”
It is not OUR mission, but His. When He is in control of a life, that life WILL shine forth and it WILL speak His words. Trouble is, we sometimes forget it. My we all at all times, allow Him to use us for HIS glory!
    We serve an amazing God!
