A conspiracy is defined as “an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret” or “a plot”.

There are many conspiracy theories that exist today.  They range from alien visitations being hidden by the world’s governments to the events of Sept 11, 2001 being the covert actions of the government of the United States.   The theories abound.

If you Google “’conspiracy theories’ websites”  you will find a listing of over 100 pages (averaging 10 links on each page)…. about 1000 sites that either promote or address the conspiracy theories of the day.

What amazes me is that the greatest conspiracy that takes place in today’s time is not a “theory” at all. It is not addressed on the average conspiracy website although it can be clearly seen everyday taking place in the world around us.

What is this conspiracy that affects mankind bringing upon multitudes suffering, death, eternal ruin?   In this blog entry we will be looking at what the Bible says about this ultimate conspiracy.

THE SCRIPTURES:

John 8:42-45 (KJV) 42) Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43) Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word. 44) Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  45) And because I tell [you] the truth, ye believe me not.

2Cor 4:1-5  1) Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2) But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.  3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

2Cor 11:13-15 (KJV)  13) For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.  14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  15) Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Eph 5:11-14 (KJV)  11) And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [them].  12) For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.  13) But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.  14) Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

THE STUDY:

Have you ever wondered why mankind cannot agree on the definition and content of spiritual truth?  How can it be that after 1000s of years of seeking to understand the truth about God, sin, and salvation; mankind still disagrees about these vital issues?

These very questions are addressed in John 8:42-45 (KJV)

Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word.

Here we find the Lord clearly presenting the truth about His origin and message…. He came from the True God of the Universe, His heavenly Father.   His message was given to Him from the Father and yet, mankind would not hear nor accept Him.   Why is this?  Christ continues….

Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  And because I tell [you] the truth, ye believe me not.

He now identifies the devil as the great conspirator behind much of  the spiritual blindness of mankind.   He makes it very clear that it is this devil, the great liar, that secretly works in the background, bringing spiritual blindness upon mankind.  He works selfishly through the use of lies and other forms of deception to keep men from an understanding of the truth that is given to us by God.

Satan, the arch deceiver, and those who are following in his footsteps, are described in the Book of Second Corinthians by the Apostle Paul.

2Cor 11:13-15 (KJV) – “For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Here the deceptive workings of the devil (Satan) and his followers are clearly described.  They come appearing to man as the servants of the True God and claiming to be ministers who are sent by the Lord Jesus Christ.   They then proceed with their lies which are meant to deceive and to lead men away from the truth that comes from Almighty God.

The Apostle Paul had seen first-hand the effects of the demonic blinding of mankind to the truths of God’s Word.  He describes these effects in 2Cor 4:1-5 (KJV)

“Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;  But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

Paul was a personal witness to the blindness of mankind to the Word of God.  But he was not the only one to personally see the rejection of truth.   Any one of us who have sought to share Christ with others knows the feeling of helplessness as we share Christ and then watch the message of God being mocked and rejected.

So how can this great conspiracy be overcome?  How can the truth of God become an effective force in the hearts and minds of mankind?   The Apostle Paul gives us the Godly answer in Eph 5:11-14 (KJV)

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [them].  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

God reveals to us through the teachings of Paul that three things are necessary for the truth of God to shine forth and be effective in the lives of all mankind:

#1 – Christians must separate themselves from the “unfruitful works of darkness”.

The devil and his followers characteristically use lies, covetousness and evil conspiracies to attempt to rob men of the truth.  As Christians, we should depart from all forms of deception and deceit as we live our lives among lost mankind.

#2 – The light of the truth of God must be applied to all forms of teachings.

When a teaching is presented, we must all compare that teaching with the revealed Word of God, the Holy Scriptures.  We are to be like the Berean Christians who faithfully used the Scriptures to define the Truth of God. (Acts 17:11)

#3 – The Truth of God is received as we come to Christ and trust Him as our Lord and Savior.

Above all, any seeker of the truth must turn from their sin and come to the Lord Jesus Christ, accepting Him as their Savior and their Lord. When the work of Christ is applied to the heart of man, their sin blinded eyes are opened and they can come to a knowledge of the truth…

1Tim 2:3-6 (KJV) – “For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn’t exist. Great post!

  2. Naphtali says:

Very good. I wonder how people can deny the truth. But then there was a time in my life when I didn’t know what it was. The basic truth is people want to do their own thing…which blinds them.

    • Rob Barkman says:

You are absolutely right… it goes something like this:
      1. we choose to deny the truth because we want to do our own thing
      2. we wnat to do our own thing because we are fallen creatures
      3. we are fallen creatures because we inherited a sin nature from our ancestors
      4. we have ancestors with fallen natures because of the original sin of Adam/Eve
      5. we have Adam and Eve committing the original sin because they gave into temptation
      6. we have A and E being tempted because of Satan

Satan truly is the originator of the spiritual blindness that takes place in this world. Although we are all to blame due to our sinfulness the origin of all rebellion against God and the truth comes through Satan and his affect on all mankind. Lord bless. Thanks for making a very important point

Are you familiar with the origins of the word “Kudos”?

    • Rob Barkman says:

The Lord has blessed us with His great word. I agree kudos to the Lord for His Truth and graciuosly giving it to His people

      • James says:

Thank you so much brother Rob, I did not know if you were familiar with it or not. I was shocked to find that out so I have been trying to let folks know about it. Have a blessed and wonderful day brother Rob…

        • Rob Barkman says:

          James,

I just visited your blog and added some comments about the “kudos” posting there. You did a great job reminding us of giving the glory to the Lord and being careful about giving the glory God deserves to man. Lord bless you.

  6. Debbie says:

Great study Rob! Thank you for helping us see what is really going on here. God bless you as you keep posting the truth!

    • Rob Barkman says:

      Debbie,

You are more than welcome.. The Lord is certainly so good to us giving us His Word so we can understand the condition of the world around us. Lord bless you.

  7. A very necessary teaching Rob. Even in ‘evangelical’ Churches there is belief that the devil doesn’t really exist, but is only an ‘influence’.

In recent months I have come across all sorts of false teaching about him. A Christian(?) – or so he calls himself – told me he had found a perfect way to overcome satan. He said that Christians are meant to be forgiving. He accepted that satan was sinful, but that as a Christian, he forgave him, so satan is now a brother, and doesn’t bother him any more. Talk about mixed-up theology!

I reckon if the devil doesn’t bother me, I am not following the Lord the way I should be. It is when I am in the perfect will of God that the devil works against me the hardest . . . but praise God that when we submit to Him and resist the devil, the devil takes his place as a defeated foe and flees!

    What an amazing God!

    • Rob Barkman says:

      You are so right Angela.

Satan is alive and actively working in the world in which we live…

1Pet 5:6-9 6) Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

For a “christian” to deny his existance, is for the “Christian” to deny God’s Word. Why is it so important for us to recognize Satan is alive and seeking to harm us? Based on the above verses… it is so we can be on guard and trusting Christ to give us victory over Satan.

Thank you again Angela, for all the great relevant comments… they have added so much to the postings. Lord bless

  8. Charisse says:

Amen and amen! This lesson was a blessing. A few years ago I became overwhelmed by the vastness of the evil that surrounds us, and I momentarily diminished our Victory that we have already been given in Christ.
Thank you for reminder to separate from the darkness and hold tight to the Truth of God’s Holy Word!
Grace and peace in Christ Jesus, charisse

    • Rob Barkman says:

      Charisse,

It is just as you say… the ultimate victord has already been won by Christ on the cross. But although the victory is won… for now, Satan is still actively opposing God’s people. We should daily trust in the same Lord that has won the ultimate victory over Satan, the Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you for a great addition to the posting. Lord bless you!

  9. Thank you for the revelation in these scriptures..I enjoyed reading them..Diane
