Heb 11:33-38  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,  (34)  Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.  (35)  Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:  (36)  And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:  (37)  They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;  (38)  (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

Here, we find a listing of the great accomplishments when faith and submission to the Lord’s will are combined.   The above accomplishments can be summarized as follows:

1. Great acts of service and miracles performed according to the will of the Lord.

2. Great acts of self-sacrifice and martyrdom for the cause of Christ.

3. Great victories in warfare (physical and spiritual warfare).

4. Great blessings (both temporal and eternal blessings) received from the Lord.

Folks, if we have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are called upon to place our faith in Him for every aspect of our life. This faith in Him will lead us to come to an understanding and submission to His will for our lives.  (Proverbs 3:1-6) ….

5) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

What areas of our lives have we totally submitted to His will and ways?  Are there any areas of our lives that we are “holding back” from total submission?  It is maybe a sinful activity, or an unwillingness to serve Him in some ministry to which He is calling us?  What about something, or someone, that we hold dear that we are unwilling to give up for Him?  Maybe, it’s a talent He has blessed us with that we are unwilling to use for His glory, or for which we are unwillingly to give Him all the credit?  Or are we holding back giving to His service the time He has given to us, because we have “too much to do”?

As our studies in Hebrews 11 draw near to a close… Let’s remember the Godly men and women we have studied in this series.  They all excelled in His service based upon their faith which accompanied their submission to His will and ways.  And then, by the Lord’s grace, let’s trust Him with EVERYTHING that is ours and glorify Him in great ways.

May the Lord bless each one of us as we “Think On These Things”.

Proverbs 3: 5, 6 was on my heart before reading your blog…and this is a MOST encouraging message you’ve shared. Thank you! Blessings.

      Susan,

The principles fund in Pro 3:5-6 are foundational principles for living a life separated to the use of God. We all need to thank Him for this great and wonderful section of Scripture that helps each one of us to better serve Him but unquestioned submission to His will. Lord bless you Susan… I have really been enjoying your blog.. May He continue to bless your ministry.

And i can say I am seeing the rewards of the what He has promised me and now I am waiting for the harvest to come in and what a day that will be…it truly does pay to be obedient to God it takes time but you must be obedient I can remember those long days and nights where I would cry and almost beg God when Lord when, I can remember how I would doubt if He even spoke those things to me..and then one day I heard Him loud and clear when He said “Desi wait on me and don’t get ahead of me’ I remember when HE also told me stop your worrying because you have taken your worries into a place of Idolatary and I don’t want you doing that…talk about a strong conviction and it was from that moment where I stopped worrying over what He told me and then I saw things happen little by little it was happening…

    • Rob Barkman says:

      Desiray,

You are so right about the need to be patient in the service of the Lord. Remember the example He uses of sowing seed… we sow the seed but He gives the increase. When a farmer sows seed in the field he does not see the increase immediately…. it takes time for the seed to sprout, grow and mature…. so too as we serve Him. If we are fiathful in sowing He will give the increase…. it will be His increase in His time!

Lord bless you…. Thanks again for another great comment.

  4. Thanks for the reminder about letting go of anything we are holding back from the Lord.

  5. “If He is not Lord *OF* all, He is not Lord *AT* all.”
“The Lord does not want 99% of me. He wants – and is entitled to 100%”
“You are not your own. Ye have been bought with a price” 1 Cor 6:19-20.

Why should we hold back? He gives and gives and gives and gives.
    We CANNOT be the loser.

    What an amazing God!

    • Rob Barkman says:

AMEN! You are so right “If He is not Lord *OF* all, He is not Lord *AT* all.” To God be the glory. Thank you for your wonderful comments… may the Lord contiue to bless you.

  6. Debbie says:

Thank you Rob for helping us think about what we might be holding back and not submitting to Him. That is always an important question! But the joy of doing so is precious. Praying now! God bless you as you let His will be your own.

    • Rob Barkman says:

Thanks Deb…. I love your statement “let His will be your own”… this is my goal… by His grace! Thanks for the comment.
